"We cannot segregate the human heart from the environment outside us
and say that once one of these is reformed everything will be improved.
Man is organic with the world. His inner life moulds the environment and is itself also deeply affected by it. The one acts upon the other and every abiding change
in the life of man is the result of these mutual reactions."
◈ How can prayer help our hearts and communities to change?
◈ How do we know if we're changing in the right direction?
◈ If change is sometimes uncomfortable, how do we know if our discomfort is good, or if we're doing something wrong?
Change is one of the eternal laws of life and growth.
The seed must escape its skin and change its form to be able to give fruit and shade.
The caterpillar must grow wings and learn a new way to be able to fulfill its destiny.
Without a doubt, change is uncomfortable.
Sometimes we strive for change, hoping to move our lives or communities in a particular direction.
There is power in conscious change - recognising those aspects of our lives, internally and externally, which require a new approach and then working tirelessly together, with mutual love and support to make that happen.
This week's inspiration, an excerpt from the film "Frontiers of Learning", explores the incredible change which takes place
in a community in India, where the ancient but outmoded tradition of social separation through the caste system gets changed through community-building activities offered by the local Bahá'í community.
